Melissa is Bloom at Belfair’s Interim Executive Director and Bloom Senior Living’s Corporate Director of Education and Development responsible for the training, development and growth of Bloom associates consistent with the Company's mission, core values and cultural initiatives, clinical standards, policies and procedures, State regulations and customer service guidelines. Bloom's mission is to enable residents to continue living full lives, by enjoying their favorite activities while discovering new ones, and blooming into their best selves through learning, growth and discovery. But this is not just limited to our residents. By creating an environment that fosters self-growth and self-actualization for others under Melissa’s leadership, Bloom associates reap those same benefits — ten-fold. Before being promoted to Director of Education and Development and consistent with Bloom's philosophy of organic growth, Melissa served as Bloom at Lakewood's Executive Director and was responsible for near perfect customer and associate satisfaction, non-existent associate turnover and occupancy of 98%. Prior to joining Bloom, Melissa enjoyed 24 years in skilled nursing serving as Executive Director of a variety of communities. She specialized in associate stabilization, census growth and customer satisfaction. Melissa is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in long term healthcare management and a minor in gerontology. She is licensed in Ohio and South Carolina.

Executive Director

Michelle is Bloom at Belfair’s Executive Director (effective November 2019) responsible, along with General Manager Jeff Pogozelski, for overseeing daily operations of the community, ensuring quality care and services are provided to residents and achieving high resident satisfaction. Unlike other providers in the area, Bloom is fortunate to have two dedicated leaders who have organically grown with Bloom. Michelle previously served as Bloom at Belfair’s loyal and dedicated Concierge and Business Office Manager, and was the Executive Director for an assisted living community in Beaufort. Before her career in healthcare, Michelle served in various management, accounting and bookkeeping roles with local and national companies. She is licensed in South Carolina.

Jeff Pogozelski

General Manager

Jeff is Bloom at Belfair’s General Manager responsible, along with Executive Director Michelle Beck, for overseeing daily operations of the community, ensuring quality care and services are provided to residents and achieving high resident satisfaction. Unlike other providers in the market, Bloom is fortunate to have two dedicated leaders who have organically grown with Bloom. Before being promoted to Bloom at Belfair’s General Manager, Jeff was Bloom Senior Living’s Area Director of Professional Services supporting Bloom’s three South Carolina communities and responsible for sales, marketing and maintaining relationships with our local health care professionals. He worked closely with area professionals educating them about Bloom's innovative care and services and served as a hospital and physician liaison between Bloom and the communities. Before being promoted to Area Director of Professional Services, Jeff was the Director of Professional Services for Bloom’s Ohio community, Bloom at Lakewood. Jeff has been in the health care space for over a decade. Prior to Bloom, Jeff started his career as a Concierge, Admissions Assistant, Admissions Marketing Director and ultimately Admissions Director at various skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities before becoming Director of Public Relations and Hospital Liaison. He grew up and attended school in Ohio.

Wellness Director

Rand is the Wellness Director responsible for overseeing resident health care services, the medication delivery system, in-service training of the Health Services Department and conducting assessments. Rand comes to Bloom with a long, diverse and broad clinical background as a leader. He was an ER and ICU nurse for Hilton Head Hospital, an RN Case Manager with Mary Washington Hospital, an RN LTSS Coordinator with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a Regional Nurse Liaison with Medical Facilities of America, Director of Admission for UVA Healthsouth and a Clinical Manager for MSA Home Health.

Area Culinary Director

Herb is the Area Culinary Director responsible for overseeing the Dietary Department of Bloom communities and making sure that their delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals are made from scratch for our residents using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients. Our residents enjoy a five-star dining experience lead by Herb filled with a rich assortment of menu options. In collaboration with our Registered Dietician, Herb incorporates resident’s personal recipes, special requests, old time favorites and specific dietary needs so our well-balanced gourmet menus are designed with their health, personal tastes and preferences in mind. Understanding how important great food is to our residents, Herb is consistently introducing exciting new cuisines for the communities to enjoy. Herb has had a long career in the food industry as Food Service Manager, Food Production Manager, Executive Chef, Foood Service Director, Director of Culinary Services and Food & Beverage Director for various health care and other organizations. He received degrees in Food Service Management and Culinary Arts, received the highest marks for customer satisfaction and won numerous awards.

Life Enrichment Coordinator (Memory Care)

Shirley is the Life Enrichment Coordinator responsible for planning and coordinating community-sponsored activity, exercise and wellness programs for Memory Care residents, as well as, ensuring our residents continue to live life to their fullest potential, enjoying their favorite activities while discovering new ones, and blooming into their best selves through growth and discovery. Alzheimer’s and dementia does not stop an artist from wanting to paint, a fisherman from wanting to fish or a dancer from wanting to dance. While some residents may have lost their short term memories, Ashton's mission, through our specialized programming and full calendar of activities and wellness programs, is to stimulate the long term memories that remain intact allowing our residents to continue being who they have always been.

Life Enrichment Coordinator (Independent Living)

Albert is the Life Enrichment Coordinator responsible for planning and coordinating community-sponsored activity, exercise and wellness programs for residents, as well as, ensuring our residents continue to live life to their fullest potential, enjoying their favorite activities while discovering new ones, and blooming into their best selves through growth and discovery. Albert is a talented problem solver and has a strong ability to motivate and work well with others stemming from his nearly decade long career before Bloom in the United States Marine Corp.

Ron Midence

Ron Midence

Director of Maintenance

Ron is the Director of Maintenance responsible for maintenance, repairs and improvements to the community and keeping our residents' homes and surroundings in a clean, comfortable and safe condition. Ron began his career as Bloom at Belfair's Maintanence Assistant before being promoted. He has an extensive experience in painting, construction, and masonry. He is fluent in English and Spanish, and a native of Hilton Head Island. He lives in Bluffton with his wife and has 3 children. In his spare time, Ron enjoys fishing.
